Improvements to the Alberta Weekly Feed Grain Pricing System
The Alberta Canola Producers Commission (ACPC) has launched an improved version of their Weekly Feed Grain price reporting system.
The feed grain prices will now be reported based on summary of actual delivered trades between sellers and buyers from the previous week in selected geographic regions.
Reporting based on actual transactions allows for the inclusion of a weighted average, meaning the displayed average is based on the actual tonnes traded at different prices.
“Providing growers with more accurate feed grain pricing information is very important to us”, says Jack Moser, chair of the ACPC’s Grower Relation and Extension Committee.
The improvements to the grain pricing system have been made possible through a cooperative agreement with AgValue Brokers based out of Calgary, Alberta.
“We are very excited to be working with the Alberta Canola Producers Commission to provide farmers with an accurate account of feed grain prices”, says Mike Stapleton of AgValue Brokers. “We've been tracking feed grain price transactions in Western Canada since 1993 and through this partnership we will be able to help Alberta farmers do the same.”
The Weekly Feed Grain price report is posted on the Alberta Canola Producers website (www.canola.ab.ca) and is delivered each week to over 1500 email subscribers.
